Effects of Organic Amendments on Soil Aggregate Stability, Carbon Sequestration, and Energy Use Efficiency in Wetland Paddy Cultivation

A study was conducted to assess the effects of organic amendments on soil aggregates, carbon (C) sequestration, and energy use efficiency (EUE) during five consecutive Boro Transplanted Aman rice seasons in Bangladesh 2018–2020. Five treatments (viz., control (only inorganic fertilizers), cow dung (CD), vermicompost (VC), straw (RS), poultry manure (PM)) were used. The materials applied at 2 t C ha?1 season?1 all plots, except treatment. Inorganic fertilizers both following integrated nutrient management (INM). data reveal that PM found be more efficient increasing water-stable aggregates (WSA), followed by RS, CD, VC. WSA smaller-sized higher than those larger-sized aggregates. VC most effective terms sequestration (29%), (26%), CD (22%), RS (20%). highest EUE attributed treatment (9.77), (8.67), (8.04), (2.10), (1.18), which showed wastage treatments. system productivity (SP) opposite trend EUE. INM is a better approach improve health, SP, but it appeared as an energy-inefficient strategy, suggests balanced application nutrients needed order achieve yield sustainability
